She told my brother not to trust me.

When someone you love says they do not trust you, it hurts. Louise talks to Hugo about dementia-related accusations in this short fictional conversation.

Transcript

Louise: She told my brother not to trust me with her purse.

Hugo: That must have hurt.

Louise: I do her shopping. Keep every receipt. Then I go home feeling like a criminal.

Hugo: You're trying to help and having to defend yourself.

Louise: I wanted to put the receipts down and say, Do it yourself, then.

Hugo: You can be angry without having that argument with Mum. Ask your brother to help check what's happened and share the responsibility.

Louise: So I'm not standing there proving I'm a decent daughter.

Hugo: You shouldn't have to carry this alone.
