Dementia and packing a bag: how can I respond?
Packing may reflect a familiar routine or a feeling that something needs doing. Ask gently about the bag rather than taking it away. A calm conversation can reveal what matters to the person; avoid assuming one explanation fits everyone.
You could try: “Tell me about where you’re getting ready to go.”
