What Has Been Built So Far: Reflecting On The First Two Weeks Of The Dementia Ecosystem

What Has Been Built So Far

Sometimes We Forget To Look Back

When you’re building something every day, it’s easy to focus on what still needs to be done.

The next feature.

The next article.

The next course.

The next update.

The next problem to solve.

But occasionally it is important to stop, look back, and appreciate just how far you’ve come.

Two weeks ago, much of what now exists within The Dementia Companion and The Dementia Assistant was still sitting as ideas, notes, experiences and conversations.

Today, those ideas have become something real.

Not finished.

Not perfect.

But real.

And growing.

More Than A Website

People often ask whether The Dementia Companion or The Dementia Assistant is a website, an app, a training platform or an educational resource.

The truth is that it has become much more than any one of those things.

Together they now form a growing dementia ecosystem designed to support people at every stage of the dementia journey.

What has been built so far includes:

The Dementia Companion

Providing information, support and community.

A place where people can access articles, guidance, practical advice and stories that help them feel less alone.

The Dementia Assistant

Providing practical guidance and tools.

Supporting families, carers and professionals with real-life solutions, training resources, care planning support, family scripts and interactive learning.

Dementia Academy

Providing professional learning opportunities.

Helping build confidence, knowledge and practical skills for those supporting people living with dementia.

Learning Disabilities & Dementia Centre

Providing inclusive support.

Recognising that people living with learning disabilities and dementia often face unique challenges and deserve resources designed specifically with them in mind.

Dementia Detective Academy

Providing children’s dementia education.

Helping younger generations understand dementia through stories, activities, detective missions, empathy and compassion.

Dementia Has No Borders

Providing global accessibility.

Recognising that dementia affects every culture, community and country, and that support should be available to everyone regardless of background or location.

Early Signs Of Impact

What has been particularly encouraging is seeing people begin to find and use the platform.

At the time of writing:

* 855 active users have engaged with the ecosystem
* 852 new users have discovered the platform
* Visitors have arrived from 7 countries
* The Dementia Assistant recorded more than 2,500 user interactions in the last seven days
* More than 1,200 page views were recorded during the same period

For something that only recently went live, those numbers are genuinely encouraging.

Not because they are huge.

But because every number represents a real person.

A family member searching for answers.

A professional looking for guidance.

A carer trying to make sense of a difficult day.

A person living with dementia looking for understanding.

That is what matters most.

Still At The Beginning

The most exciting part is that this is still only the beginning.

New articles are being written.

New family scripts are being added.

New training programmes are being developed.

The Learning Disabilities & Dementia Centre continues to grow.

The Dementia Detective Academy is expanding.

The platform is evolving almost daily.

There is still a long way to go.

But for the first time, years of experience, ideas and passion have been brought together in one place.

A Thank You

Most importantly, thank you.

Thank you to every person who has visited the website.

Thank you to everyone who has shared a post, provided feedback, offered encouragement or taken the time to explore what has been built.

Whether you have followed from the beginning or only discovered us recently, you are helping shape something that was created with one simple purpose:

To make life a little easier for people affected by dementia.

The journey is only just beginning, but together we are already building something meaningful.

One ecosystem.

Every stage.

Every family.

Everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, shared, tested, provided feedback and believed in the vision so far. We are only just getting started. 💚
